This weekend I celebrated birthday number 28. The weekend could not have been more perfect. I received some goodies from my wishlist (including the bar stools – yay!), enjoyed a delicious breakfast with BW (at the fine dining establishment, Waffle House. Yeah… we’re fancy like that) which included a complimentary slice of birthday pie, grabbed happy hour margaritas with friends and ate the most ah-mazing dinner at Husk. If you live in Nashville, or just happen to be passing through, it comes highly recommended! There’s been a lot of buzz about the newly opened spot and it lived up to all the hype.
To start we had the Smoked Chicken Wings with Pepper Mash Dry Rub and AL White Sauce, the Heirloom Tomaotes and Cucumbers with Asher Blue Dressing and Butter Lettuce, and the Rappahannock Oysters with Green Garlic Butter, Bottarga, Lovage and Preserved Lemon – hands down the favorite starter.
For our entrees, BW had the SC Shrimp and Grits with Grilled Okra, Asparagus, Fresh Bay and Benne and I had Adam Musick’s Pork Chop, with Grilled Cabbage, Buttermilk-Potato Puree and Mustard Onions – which was out of this world!
And of course, because it was my birthday we had to order dessert. Per BW’s suggestion we tried the Buttermilk Pie, which (duh) also comes highly recommended! The atmosphere, the service and, of course, the food were all so incredibly perfect. So, definitely make it a priority to check this place out. I’m waiting for another special occasion so we can go back…
