the best bbq chicken pizza

I love making homemade pizza. Lots of fresh veggies, cheeses, meats – the possibilities are endless. One of my go-to recipes is this BBQ chicken pizza. It is so delish AND it is a great way to use leftover chicken.

{ best bbq chicken pizza }

  • 1 package pizza dough*
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce
  • 8 oz. fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 cup cooked chicken, diced or shredded
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, plus approximately 2 tablespoons for top of pizza
  • 1/4 fresh cilantro, chopped
  • kosher salt to taste
  • red pepper flakes (optional)

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Roll out pizza dough using a small amount of flour to desired shape. Rub pizza stone or sheet pan with olive oil and place crust on pizza stone. Toss the chopped chicken in the BBQ sauce. Sprinkle crust with salt. Spread marinara sauce on crust. Top with sliced mozzarella, red onion, chicken, red pepper flakes and remaining BBQ sauce. Bake for 15-18 minutes or according to package directions. Once the pizza comes out of the oven, finish off with the chopped cilantro and enjoy!

*I’ve tried about every store bought pizza dough available and fresh dough at the Publix bakery is by far my fave.
